Charleston Artist Guild in Charleston, SC, Features Works by P. Avery Miller

The Charleston Artist Guild in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, Spring Potpourri, featuring works by P. Avery Miller, on view in the Guild Gallery, from Mar. 1 - 31, 2010. The exhibit will display her wide range of interests and abilities.

P. Avery Miller (Pamela Schussel) is a painter and fibre artist. She received her Bachelor's in Fine Art from the Pennsylvania State University and also studied at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh University, and Rollins College. She earned her Journeyman Weaver's rating from the prestigious Weavers' Guild of Boston.

Miller has taught painting and fibre arts at Crealde Art Centre. She also has served as president of the Community of I'On Artists. She is an exhibiting member of the Charleston Artist Guild where she is currently their Vice-President and Chairman of the Art Academy. She is the Founding President of the Cincinnati Shetland Sheepdog Club, served on the boards of the Cincinnati Kennel Club, Clermont Dog Training Club, and Concord Dog Training Club. She has bred AKC champion dogs, finished many obedience titles, and is a licensed Veterinary Technician.

As a rural Connecticut native and an animal lover, Miller's work reflects a passion for the natural world and man's relationship to it. Drawing inspiration from both her New England roots and her years living in England, she strives to create counterpoise between traditional colors and contemporary composition.

Miller's home and studio is now in Mount Pleasant, SC. She lives with her husband and their four dogs.
