UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Betsy Murray

UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC, will present the exhibit, The Homecoming, a collection of some 30 sculptural collages by long-time Asheville resident Betsy Murray, on view in the Blowers Gallery, Mar. 1-30, 2010.

The former UNC Asheville librarian now works at Pack Memorial Library with the North Carolina photograph collection. Her three-dimensional art combines artifacts and her own photographs to tell a story.

Murray first exhibited her work in a show entitled, The Closing, in 1990 during the renovation of UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library. Now, 20 years later, her work will be featured in Ramsey Library once again. The new exhibit explores Murray's experiences and ideas that have grown over the past two decades, including the loss of her Madison County cabin in a mudslide, examination of the Tarot, and a retelling of Sleeping Beauty.

For further information check our NC Institutional Gallery listings or call the Library at 828/251-6546.
