Coleman Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Offers an Exhibition by Jan Pawlowski

Coleman Fine Art in Charleston, SC, will be hosting an exhibit of plein-air Impressionist, Jan Pawlowski, May 5 - 10. The exhibit will feature new works that reflect an intriguing evolution in his work. Pawlowski travels to the South every year to capture imagery unique to our region. This upcoming visit promises to be very interesting as we experience firsthand the creation of Pawlowski's vision of Charleston.

Pawlowski's richly textured canvases reveal a unique, energetic handling of paint in his Impressionist style - depictions of seaports, florals, and historical architecture. He prefers to paint in the early morning, when the air is crisp, shadows are soft, and the only sounds are of singing birds. He paints quickly as the day unfolds, capturing the purest light of the day.

Pawlowski studied at the Academy of Fine arts in Warsaw and in 1979 was awarded the Authorization and Certification by the Ministry of Culture and Arts in Warsaw. This is the ultimate achievement for Polish artists. The award goes beyond technique, and is given in recognition of indefinable artistic values, that can be seen and felt by an artist's work, but not explained. This characteristic is still evident in Pawlowski's work today.
