Brattonsville Collection of Photos at Rock Hill, SC, City Hall

The Brattonsville Collection of black and white photographs by William Elder is being exhibited at the Rotunda Gallery, Rock Hill City Hall in Rock Hill, SC, from Apr. 2 - 30. The collection features about 25 prints from Elder's hundreds of negatives portraying Historic Brattonsville in York County, SC. The large black and white prints are being show under the auspices of the Rock Hill Arts Council.

Local fine art and sports photographer William Elder has been photographing Historic Brattonsville for the past three years and has accumulated nearly a thousand negatives taken at all times of the year. Also included in the collection are images made during the reenactment of the Battle of Huck's Defeat. The photographs shown in this exhibit are just a sample of the scope of the total body of images from Brattonsville.

Elder has been working in black and white fine art images for over 20 years. His own projects include continuing photo-essays on Historic Brattonsville, Disappearing Farmsteads of the Piedmont, the Landsford Canal, St. John's of the Wilderness, Wabi-Sabi images and several other image groups. Elder is also the owner or The Sports Section, which photographs area youth in their sports activities and leagues, on the internet at (http://www.sports-section.com/carolinas). Elder is a resident of Tega Cay, SC.
