Crooked Creek Art League in Chapin, SC, Features Winners of Annual Juried Show

The Crooked Creek Art League is presenting an exhibition of the winning entries from its Annual Juried Art Show at the Crooked Creek Park Recreation facility in Chapin, SC, throughout the month of Apr. 2002. The works in the exhibition were selected by this year's juror, Harry Hansen, a distinguished artist and professor at the University of South Carolina for 30 years. Hansen chose these award winning works from eighty-two works submitted by forty-three artists.

A total of $2,100 in prizes was awarded to the following: Patrick Turk won the Best of Show Award; Michel McNinch won the First Place Award; Julie Brown was awarded Second Place; Jo Thomas had a work selected for Third Place; Margie Nation was given the City Art Award; A. K. Singley took the Postcard Award; and Rose D. Stuart, Edie Biddle, Bettye Rivers, Nita Yancey, and Victoria Goins all won Merit Awards.

The exhibit is supported in part by grants from the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties, the SC Arts Commission, the Central Carolina Community Foundation, and the Columbia Women's Club Foundation and generous donations from the community.

The Crooked Creek Art League meets on the third Monday of each month at Crooked Creek Park, 1098 Old Lexington Hwy, in Chapin, SC, at 7pm. Each meeting is an opportunity to meet other artists in the area and listen to a speaker on an art related topic. Membership is only $15 a year.
