Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro, NC, Features Annual Art Student Exhibition

The Weatherspoon Art Museum and the Department of Art at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Greensboro, NC, is presenting recent work by graduating UNCG seniors through Apr. 24, 2005, in the Museum's Tannenbaum Gallery.

All senior art students were required to submit a work to be judged, and of 112 submissions, 35 were chosen. The selected works include painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, digital printmaking, and mixed media. Guest juror for this year's exhibition is Bill White, Chair, Department of Art at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA. Richard Gantt, UNCG Department of Art, and Nancy Doll, Museum Director, are co-curators.

The goal of the exhibition is to explore the broad range of artistic expression in the undergraduate senior class and to provide an opportunity for graduating senior artists to experience the professional aspects of exhibiting their artwork in a nationally known and accredited art museum. Students were required to complete loan forms and attend a workshop about presenting artwork and publicizing the show.

"We are looking for students who demonstrate a maturation of their identities as artists," Gantt said. "The intent is to make this a real, positive, professional experience."

Students selected for this year's show are: Crystal Allison (painting), Jonathan Andrews, Adrijana Baric (digital print), Jacob Bigham (photography), Loren Blakemore (sculpture), Brandy Boyce (mixed media), Crystal Boyd (photography), Kevin Buckheit (works on paper), David Bullard, Sarah Margaret Carroll (sculpture), Scott Cooper (painting), Natasha Ester (photography), Cathy Frye (painting), Tim Geraghty, Jessica Gruen (photography), Kristin Hackett (painting), Lee Ellen Harris (mixed media), Tracy Hayes (painting), Ryan Hays (mixed media), Hannah Holshouser (photography), Angela Holt (sculpture), Toni Lemons, Joshua Lennen (works on paper), Yaoyao Ma (painting), Scott Mason (works on paper), Hiroshi Mizuno (sculpture), Angela Marie Ragouzeos (photography), Stephen Scott (sculpture), Bonnie Skiver (mixed media), Megan Strader, Matthew Thomasson (works on paper), Kristin Vartanian and Evan Woods (painting).
