Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Geoffrey Johnson and Kim Schuessler

Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present an exhibition of works by Geoffrey Johnson and Kim Schuessler, opening on Apr. 20 and continuing through May 16, 2007. Johnson and Schuessler are highly collectible and their shows are a crowd favorite among the Charlotte Art Scene.

Johnson's work is recognized from coast to coast. His largely tonalistic, soft focus, almost blurred landscapes and strong dark to light urban scenes have an elegant sense of melancholy and that very desirable quality of "timelessness" that totally engages the viewer, notes one reviewer.

Johnson is a 1993 graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy and is winner of the Morris Blackburn Landscape prize - the recipient is chosen by the Academy faculty. He was also honored as the recipient of the Campbell Soup Co. Scholarship and Three Pennsylvania Academy Purchase Prizes.

Johnson's numerous solo exhibitions include Pasadena CA, Atlanta GA, Washington DC and New York, Alexandra VA as well as in the Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC. His work is in numerous corporate and prominent private collections including: Turner Broadcasting, Bell South Corp., Wachovia Bank and the Bernau University Museum, Gainesville, GA.

Kim Schuessler's work is always in high demand, and her collectors span from Hawaii to the East Coast. Using paint, paper and stenciling, Schuessler creates joyously kooky figures to capture life's simple moments in a complex collage. Paint splatters, torn papers and written words on a colorful canvas adds vibrant energy to each painting.

Schuessler's lighthearted images come with a serious art background. Educated at the University of Georgia and Parsons School of Design in New York, she has honed her talent. She also spent time studying with Dan Connally in Cortona, Italy and at the University of Bourgogne in Dijon, France. Schuessler has over 25 exhibitions to her credit, featured in many publications, and numerous corporate and private collections.
