Spencer Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Lisa Willits

Spencer Art Gallery II in Charleston, SC, will present Lowcountry Moments, a special exhibit of new paintings by Lisa Willits, on view from Apr. 20 - 27, 2007.

"Willits' new works are inspired by the natural splendor of our local landscape with a focus on color and atmosphere. She captures fleeting moments on canvas, from the bright warm sunshine of a morning walk on the beach to the vivid colors of a glorious sunset on the water. The works encourage the viewer to slow down, breathe deeply, and enjoy the small but special moments that make up our days," says Jerry Spencer, gallery owner.

This exciting show reflects Willit's experimentation with a more limited color palette, which serves to unify the color schemes of her paintings. She loves the challenge of painting outdoors (en plein air).

"Patrons will notice that Lisa has developed a greater awareness of subtle shifts in light and color through small studies painted on location," says Spencer. "This change is also evident in her approach to her indoor studio paintings as well."
