Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Jeannette Cooper Nicholson

Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC, is featuring works by Jeannette Cooper Nicholson through Apr. 30, 2007.

The inspiration for the Johns Island, SC, painter's intensely colored floral portraits can more often than not, be traced to the garden of her husband. Once Nicholson enters the garden, it is the play of light on a subject's luscious color that brings her in for a closer look.

Nicholson says, "I love to take something that is perhaps unnoticed and paint it in such a way that a sense of delight is created in the viewer as their eyes see the flower in a new way. How exciting to reach a point in the painting process when the canvas comes alive and dictates to me where it wants to go! At that time I feel invigorated, inspired and uplifted. If I am successful in my endeavor, the viewer will feel the same. My paintings are a combination of the way things are and the way I would like for them to be - Real or Imagined - The Now or The Then of my Memories."
