April Issue 2008

Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville in Greenville, SC, Features Works by Aimee N. Matthews

The Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville in Greenville, SC, will present an exhibition of works by Aimee N. Matthews, on view from Apr. 1 - 30, 2008.

Matthews' work stems from a determination to say something everlasting in a beautiful way. She uses verses of poetry in tune with her brush stokes to convey the story, always considering the work represents a message and possibly a certain viewpoint. Each piece tells it's own story connecting the past to the present. The artist says she is most comfortable using collage and mixed media techniques to convey her story. Matthews likes to use discarded items that she may find at antique stores, or family items that hold a feeling of intrigue and mystery to start a project. She has her canvases made to size from a local woodworker and works mainly in acrylics and then brings in mixed media to complete the piece.

The current members of the Guild include: Laura Buxo, Gerda Bowman, Linda Carole, Pat Cato, Laura Dahl, Pam DeWitt, Kathy DuBose, Edith McBee Hardaway, Chris Hartwick, Jennifer Henderson, Kevin Henderson, Patricia Kilburg, Dani Kuhn, Cynda LuClaire, Aimee N. Mattews, Pegi Newton, Leslie Owens, John Pendarvis, John Reid, Garry Turpin.
