City of North Charleston in North Charleston, SC, Presents Traveling Watermedia Exhibition

The City of North Charleston will present the 2008 South Carolina Watermedia Society Traveling Exhibition, featuring the top thirty works from this annual members show. The exhibit will be on view at the North Charleston City Gallery located in Charleston Area Convention Center in North Charleston, SC, from Apr. 1 - 30, 2009.

The South Carolina Watermedia Society is the only statewide visual arts organization in SC to promote artists who work in watermedia, which includes watercolor, acrylic, gouache, casein and mixed media in conjunction with watermedia. The group provides exhibition opportunities, professional development and educational programs.

The annual juried exhibition, which has been presented since 1977, offers both new and established artists from around the state the opportunity to compete for prize money and to have their work featured in the Society's traveling exhibition, under the supervision of the SC State Museum. The exhibit travels throughout SC for a full year. A number of the works on view will be available for purchase.

The Cultural Arts Department of the City of North Charleston is the recipient of the 2000 Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Award for the Arts and receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, SC Arts Commission, and the corporate community.
