COCO VIVO in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Angela Trotta Thomas, Cathy Myers, & Kellie Jacobs

COCO VIVO Art for Living in Charleston, SC, will present Fresh Paint, a Spring Art Show featuring works by Angela Trotta Thomas, Cathy Myers, and Kellie Jacobs, on view from Apr. 5 - 30, 2013. A reception will be held on Apr. 5, from 5-8pm.

Working from her home studio on Kiawah Island, Cathy Myers has the opportunity to capture wonderful images of the Low Country, from its beautiful wild life to its picturesque beaches and marshes.   The works created from these experiences blend with her memories from her time spent in the Southwest and with her past experiences and recurring trips to the Northeast, to create a wide range of subject matter. Myers’ works reflect her attention to detail, her love of nature and her love of clear and vibrant colors.

The cornerstone of Angela Trotta Thomas’ art is her ability to bring emotion into her work. Her paintings allow the viewer to experience the warmth of her subject by evoking fond memories, creating a bond between art and the viewer. Thomas believes a successful painting must evoke emotion. With these values in mind, she has begun creating plein air oil paintings as well as studio paintings. She attended many world class workshops and demonstrations, some of which were taught by C. W. Mundy, Kevin Macpherson, Scott Burdick, Quang Ho, David Leffel, Kenn Backhaus and Clayton Beck III.

Kellie Jacobs has spent her life watching the seasons change among the marshes and beaches of the South Carolina Coast.  After graduating from the College of Charleston, Jacobs decided to pursue her professional career as a painter. Working primarily in pastel, she paints landscapes using atmosphere and light to create mood and expression in her art. “I am fascinated with the light at the end of the day. When the evening sun is low and warm touching the tops of the sand dunes and grasses of the marsh is the time of day I love best.”
