Gallery Gallop in Camden, SC, to Feature Polo Artist - Barbara Borck-Hart

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County in Camden, SC, is gearing up for The Camden Cup Polo Tournament weekend to be held May 3 - 5, 2002. Presented in partnership with Camden Polo Club, the weekend features not only polo matches, but also the "Gallery Gallop". Premier sponsor for the weekend is NBSC; Land Rover Columbia and East South Carolina Hay Distribution provide additional support.

Polo poster artist Barbara Borck-Hart will be on hand for the weekend activities, which begin Fri., May 3 with the "Gallery Gallop."

The "Gallery Gallop" is an art and antique walk around historic downtown Camden. Participants may park at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County or other designated areas and walk from shop to shop, enjoying refreshments and receptions at each site. "We invite everybody to come and check out these unique shops and galleries. There's something for everyone and the sites are within walking distance from one another," Polo 2002 coordinator Liza Van Horn said. The 5:30-9pm event is free and open to the public. Other Gallery Gallop sites include: Andries Van Dam Antiques, Antiques on Broad, Artists' Attic, Camden Antique Mall, Charles Dixon Antiques, F.D. Goodale Jeweler, Rutledge Street Gallery, The Granary and The Heritage Antique Mall.

Polo weekend guides with schedule of events, maps and general information will be available at the Fine Arts Center and at the Polo Field during matches. The Fine Arts Center will be the base of operations, according to Van Horn. Polo t-shirts and 2002 Polo posters signed by Borck-Hart will be available for purchase. Borck-Hart will also be at the Fine Arts Center with a special display of her landscapes and polo paintings.

The Fine Arts Center is funded in part by the Frederick S. Upton Foundation and the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
