Nina Liu & Friends Offers Works by Jocelyn Chateauvert and David Ross Puls in Charleston, SC

Nina Liu and Friends Gallery in Charleston, SC, is presenting the exhibition, Side by Side, featuring works by Jocelyn Chateauvert and David Ross Puls from May 7 through June 17, 2004.

Rather than inventing a muse to make art, art is the muse for a creative life in this partnership of love, family, and rehab (a Charleston single that is) between Jocelyn Chateauvert and David Ross Puls.

David Ross Puls

Puls conveys his designs through furniture that is hand crafted using modern technology. Understanding the history of furniture making he applies 21st century techniques and contemporary thought to what he produces. His hand with sustainable plywood products brings out the interior voice of the wood by exaggerating its layers into sensuous line that invite the viewer to a visual and tactile exploration. Highlighting this exhibit will be a series of chairs for each stage of growth, from toddlers to adults.

Joycelyn Chateauvert

Drawing inspiration from traditional hand papermaking's 500-year history Chateauvert's illuminated sculptural forms radiate with the warm tones of the natural fibers of which they are made. She hand forms textures and line on the sheets before they are dry then lights and shapes them into wall scones, table top and freestanding lamps.

Both artists are nationally recognized and have been represented in Charleston by Nina Liu and Friends Gallery for the past 10 years.
