Transylvania Community Arts Center in Brevard, NC, Presents Student Works and Sculptures

The Transylvania Community Arts Center in Brevard, NC, will features two exhibitions in May, beginning with the Transylvania Student Art Show, on view from May 5 - 19, 2004, and The Suitcase Show, on view from May 21 through June 28, 2004.

The annual Transylvania Student Art Show, features works of art by Transylvania County students in grades K through 12, while highlighting exciting developments in local
art education. Paintings, sculpture, drawings, photography and more will be on view.

The Suitcase Show, organized by the Tri State Sculptors organization features more than 35 works of art created by 25 artists from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The maximum size of each work is no larger than about a foot-square 34 scaled to fit within a suitcase. The concept for the exhibition is for regional sculptors to meet with and temporarily exchange work with sculptors from other regions. When the show travels to any given location, the TSS group sets up an exhibition of current work, but they also leave with their bags packed with the work of sculptors of that region to exhibit in other locations.
