Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, Features Works by Barbara Remensnyder and Barbara Holland

The Art League of Henderson County will feature the works of two of its members, Barbara Remensnyder and Barbara Holland, on view in the Grace Etheredge Room at Opportunity House in Hendersonville, SC, from May 6 - 31, 2007.

Barbara Remensnyder, past president of ALHC, and her husband have lived in Flat Rock, NC, for the past six years. Her art training began in college and continues through classes and workshops with local and nationally-known artists. Remensnyder paints traditionally in watercolor, often incorporating mixed media into her work.

Remensnyder uses acrylics in a fun, contemporary style to depict cityscapes and local landscapes. Her acrylic florals are characteristically bold and bright. She feels alternating between these mediums keeps her work fresh.

Barbara Holland is originally from Chicago. After a career as a public library director, she moved to Hendersonville. In her painting she particularly enjoys the freedom of the flow made possible by watercolor. She prefers to work in a loose and free style, aiming to capture the feeling of a place or moment in time.

Holland has served as co-secretary on the board of ALHC and as publicity chair and has worked on numerous League projects.
