Artisphere Festival in Greenville, SC, Offers Indoor Exhibitions

Artisphere, Greenville's Arts Weekend, will present two indoor exhibits during the 2010 Festival, taking place in Greenville, SC, May 7 - 9, 2010. The Artists of the Upstate Juried Exhibition will be located at Centre Stage Theatre, and The Chairman's Exhibit: A Gallery Showcase will be on display in The Greenville News building.

This year's Artists of the Upstate Juried Exhibition features 51 Upstate artists selected by Marcia Wood, owner and Executive Director of Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta, GA. The exhibition will be on view the Festival weekend and through May 28 at Centre Stage Theatre.

MAC Executive Director Alan Ethridge remarks," MAC is pleased to be a sponsor of the third annual Artists of the Upstate Juried Exhibition at Centre Stage. Each year, the exhibition is an excellent representation of the talent and professionalism of the artists living and working in Greenville. This year's show is one of the key components of Artisphere, and it continues to build awareness of our local arts community."

In its sophomore year with the Festival, The Chairman's Exhibit is comprised of works from three well-established regional galleries, representing artists from across North and South Carolina as well as several national renowned talents. Galleries represented include: Hampton III Gallery in Taylors, SC; Elder Gallery in Charlotte, NC; and Blue Spiral 1 in Asheville, NC. Each bring their own unique aesthetic to the exhibit, displaying original two and three-dimensional works in a variety of mediums.

"Having grown up in the Upstate, I feel a sense of excitement to come back to the place of my youth, albeit much different than it was then," commented Larry Elder, Executive Director of Elder Gallery in Charlotte. "I am happy to be part of Artisphere 2010 and look forward to introducing a number of new artists to the folks who attend. It is a thrill for me to be able to be a part of this element of Artisphere."

The Chairman's Exhibit will be located on the first floor of the Greenville News building in downtown Greenville.
