Somerhill Gallery in Durham, NC, Features Works by Mark Chatterley
Somerhill Gallery, located at the Venable Center in Durham, NC, will present Recent Works by Mark Chatterley, on view from May 2 through June 3, 2010.
Chatterley is a primitive figurative sculptor who works with over-life-size figures. He has 20 years fine art experience and is represented in galleries and collections, nationally.
His abstract figures range in texture, from smooth and composed to rough and chaotic. They have strong autobiographical themes. Chatterley encourages the viewer to visualize what the pieces are thinking about and attempt to grasp each sculpture's unique identity.
Chatterley received both his BA and MFA from Michigan State University. He has exhibited widely through the eastern United States. Included in this list are exhibits at Penn State University, The Pearl Conrad Gallery at Ohio State University, the Michigan Potters Association, the National Ceramics Invitational Exhibit at Bowling Green (Ohio) State University Fine Arts Gallery and Michigan Arts Competition in Battle Creek, MI. His work can also be found in many public and private collections.
