The Waynesville Gallery Association Presents Art After Dark May 7, 2010

The Waynesville Gallery Association in Waynesville, NC, presents the first Art After Dark of the season on May 7, 2010 from 6-9pm.

Waynesville's Art After Dark takes place the first Friday of each month, May through December. Enjoy a stroll through working studios and galleries on Main Street, Depot Street and in Historic Frog Level. Festive flags denote participating galleries like Art on Depot, Blue Owl Studio and Gallery, Burr Studio and Gallery, Earthworks Gallery, Grace Cathey Sculpture Garden and Gallery, Haywood County Arts Council's Gallery 86, Ridge Runner Naturals, Studio Thirty-Three, Textures, The Jeweler's Workbench, T Pennington Art Gallery, and Twigs and Leaves Gallery.

The Art After Dark theme for the month of May is "Women in Art." Waynesville and surrounding areas are filled with many gifted female artists and musicians. Join us as we pay tribute to these special women and celebrate their accomplishments. Versatile songwriter, singer, and musician Lorraine Conard will be our "musician on the street" for the evening.

Earthworks Gallery will present The Trio, Artistic Women of Vision featuring Julie Fawn Boisseau, ceramicist; Suzy Johnson, jewelry artist; and, Elisa Holder, acrylic artist.

Grace Cathey Sculpture Garden will feature Joseph Cathey of Walnut Cove Landscaping to present "The Art and Craft of Building a Dry Stack Stone Wall" beginning at 7pm. The presentation will be repeated at 10am on May 8, 2010.

The Haywood County Arts Council's Gallery 86 is hosting five female painters in QuickDraw 2010: featuring Gretchen Clasby, acrylic and watercolor; Jo Ridge Kelley, oil; Joyce Schlapkohl, oil; Sarah Sneeden, oil; and, Ann Vasilik, watercolor.

Twigs and Leaves Gallery will be featuring mother/daughter artists Jenny and Rachel Bucker. Waynesville resident Jenny Buckner is a renowned oil painter while daughter Rachel is a blossoming jewelry artist. Continuing with the "Women in Art" theme, piano music will be provided by a female musician.
