Touchstone Gallery in Hendersonville, NC, Features Fresh Artworks For Summer

Touchstone Gallery in historic Downtown Hendersonville, NC, is pleased to announce the arrival of new art and fine craft just in time for Summer 2000.

Joyce Ruess of Hendersonville, a 1999 Regional Artist Project Grant recipient, recently delivered The Black Panther a jade soapstone sculpture mounted on a butternut (wood) base.

Barbara Nussdorfer-Eblen has been endeavoring to document the natural landscape of Henderson County for the past ten years. One of her latest efforts... Mt. Pisgah From Mills River... large format oil on canvas is currently featured in the front window of Touchstone. Eblen's painting Winter Heather recently won first place honors in the First Open Juried Still Life Exhibit sponsored by The Arts Center in Hendersonville.

Rachel Clearfield of the Sandymush area above Asheville, NC, is making her gallery debut with two original paintings as well as a series of giclée prints. Ariel and the Lily Bud as well as Pink Magnolia are featured works on canvas in the main window of Touchstone. The giclées range from light infused local landscapes to romantic interpretations of feminine inspirational energies

Bill Hyatt of Cullowhee, NC, has two distinctive groups of wood turned objects, crafted from locally harvested trees. Touchstone has bowls and vases of semi-transparent white birch and ambrosia maple (spalted patterns caused by the ambrosia beetle).

Two new potters have joined the rooster at Touchstone: Kristi Sloniger of Moonstar Pottery in Oak Park, IL, brings us stoneware vases and bowls and, David Gordon of Seguin, TX, offers stoneware vessels using horsehair to create unique patterns.
