Charleston ClayWorks in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Potters from Roan Mountain

Charleston ClayWorks Studio and Gallery in Charleston, SC, is featuring an exhibition entitled, Potters of the Roan, which is on view through June 20, 2002. This special exhibition features 10 nationally prominent studio potters who all live near beautiful Roan Mountain in North Carolina.

The group has been featured in many national exhibitions and this is a unique opportunity to see some truly wonderful pottery. Internationally recognized potters Will Ruggles and Douglass Rankin make wood fired pots that are collectors treasures. Suze Lindsey and Ken Sedberry exhibit beautifully decorated work, each with distinctive brushwork. These 10 potters work with both stoneware and porcelain and fire with wood, salt, soda, and reduction kilns. This is a fascinating show of pottery.

Charleston ClayWorks is an innovative artist studio and gallery providing private studio spaces, kilns and studio equipment, as well as a very beautiful gallery representing ceramics from across the country and many of the resident studio potters.

Charleston ClayWorks was featured in the May, 2002, issue of Southern Living and recognized for its unique studio set-up and its welcoming atmosphere. The gallery is distinguished as one of the best clay galleries found anywhere in the south.

The owner and founder of ClayWorks, Susan Filley, exhibits and teaches pottery throughout the country. Her work is published in many books and journals.
