Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, Offers Works by John Anderson

The Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, will present Wee Ones: New Whiskey Paintings, featuring paintings by John Anderson, on view from June 1 - 30, 2013. A reception will be held on June 7, from 5-8pm.

The exhibition features a series of miniature watercolor and ink/watercolor paintings by this life member of the Whiskey Painters of America.

Anderson’s first art education occurred while he was still an elementary school student when he attended Saturday art classes at the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, PA. Drawing played a major part in his career as an architect for over 46 years. He typically produced renderings of building projects in pen and ink with color often added with designer markers. In addition to his professional licensing in six states and membership in the American Institute of Architects, Anderson was certified by the National Council of Architectural Boards.

Anderson retired from architectural practice to the mountains of western North Carolina in Hendersonville, NC, in 2005 and studied watercolor painting with a number of nationally-known watercolorists. He is a Signature Member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and serves on their Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Southern Watercolor Society, the Alabama Watercolor Society, the Georgia Watercolor Society and the Art League of Henderson County. Anderson received life-membership in the Whiskey Painters of America in 2011.

In addition to his partnership in the Asheville Gallery of Art, Ltd. Anderson is also represented by Wickwire Fine Art/Folk Art, Hendersonville and Gallery Alta Vista in Valle Crusis, NC. His work has been juried into numerous shows and has been the recipient of a number of awards.
