Spratt - Burroughs Gallery Offers First Exhibit in York, SC

Spratt - Burroughs Gallery, in historic York, SC, opens its new contemporary fine arts gallery July 27, featuring twenty seven paintings by nationally acclaimed artist, Glenn R. Bradshaw. This first show which runs through Sept. 21, also will include works by other regional and national artists.

Bradshaw's work, abstractions in casein and collage on rice paper, are saturated with layers of vibrant color. Inspiration for his work is reflected in his titles; Agates and Iron, Of Shores and Skies, and Inclusions and Edges. These paintings range in size from 38 inches by 78 inches to as small as 12 inches by 17 inches. He considers his work " lyrical, much like music to be enjoyed".

Bradshaw has work in private, corporate and museum collections across the United States and has received numerous awards and prizes through the years. He has just been awarded the Whitaker Prize at the National Academy of Design Members' Exhibition currently on display in New York.

Other artists with works in this first exhibition are: Randy Armstrong, Bluff City, TN; Lynda Lea Bonkemyer, Lenoir NC; Cindy Burroughs, York, SC; Constance Buchanan, RockHill, SC; Jim Connell, Rock Hill, SC; Bob Doster, Lancaster, SC; Dale Duncan, York, SC; Harriett Goode, Rock Hill, SC; Joanne Gollberg & Kathryn Henneberry, Bethesda, MD; Serge Hollerbach, New York City, NY; Jayne Johnson, Charlotte, NC; Mary Virginia Langston, Washington, DC; Steve McCrae, RockHill, SC; Grainger McKoy, Sumter, SC; Rose Metz, Sumter, SC; Bob Porter, Charlotte, NC; Alex Powers, Myrtle Beach, SC; Jane Spratt, York, SC; Wanda Steppe, Rock Hill, SC; and Tom Thieleman, Lenoir, NC.

Spratt - Burroughs Gallery is located in a historic building erected in the late 1800s. It is one of several structures in the downtown area of York recently revitalized and preserved as attractive, usable business locations. The 1600 square foot gallery has been upgraded to include three exhibit spaces, a conference room and storage areas to properly accommodate the work of the artists Spratt and Burroughs represent. York County is the fastest growing county in the Upstate SC and is part of the Charlotte, NC, Metropolitan area.

Jane Spratt and Cindy Burroughs are looking forward to the opportunity to represent and display, in York, artists' work found normally in larger city galleries.
