Sunset River Marketplace Now Open in Calabash, NC

Sunset River Marketplace, a gallery of art and unique creations, is now open. Located in Calabash, NC, just across the SC border, the gallery features over 10,000 square feet of space dedicated to local and regional artisans whose work includes pottery, glass, jewelry, metal and wood sculpture, hand-painted furniture, photography and paintings in a wide variety of media.

"This is a unique gallery," said Executive Director and Owner, Ginny Lassiter. "It not only offers a user-friendly environment in which artisans can display their work, but it is a retail environment, as well. Our building is designed so that each artisan can create their own vignette where customers can browse and buy at their leisure. To ensure professionalism and offer art that is truly unique, all pieces are juried."

In addition to a wide variety of art, the gallery currently features summer art classes for youth with plans of offering similar classes and workshops to adults. Future plans also call for a coffee bar and custom frame shop. "The layout was designed with both, the artisan and the shopper in mind," continued Lassiter.

Open since June 1, the gallery currently features works by over 80 artisans and has already attracted visitors from across the country.

Artisans who wish to be considered for exhibit space as well as those interested in learning more about classes and current exhibits are encouraged to call 910/575-5999 or e-mail the gallery at (lassiter@sunsetrivermarketplace.com).
