Conn Gallery in Landrum, SC, Teams up with Tryon's, Upstairs Gallery to Present Exhibitions

The Conn Gallery in Landrum, SC, hosts two exhibits opening July 12 and continuing through Aug. 22, 2003. In one half of the contemporary art gallery is the exhibit, Recent Works: Jim Creal, Stephen Lange, Richard Robinson, Gene Speer. In the other half of the gallery, the Upstairs Gallery of Tryon, NC continues its "road show" with the exhibit, Doors and Other Openings, a mixed media exhibit featuring works by Laleah Adams, Richard Conn, Michael Owen Hill, Diane Hopkins-Hughs, Carol Beth Icard, Pat Kilburg and Kathryn Temple.

The Upstairs Gallery is renovating an old building in downtown Tryon. "We're happy to offer the Upstairs a temporary home," says Rachel Conn, co-owner of the Conn Gallery. "Besides, the partnership of the galleries gives the region a powerful art experience."

Monoprint, abstract painting, steel and wood sculpture is the range of art in Recent Works, while Doors and Other Openings displays ceramic art, surrealistic and abstract painting, photography and fiber art.

"Both shows appeal to a wide audience without compromising the excitement and seriousness of the art," says Nancy Holmes, executive director of the Upstairs Gallery.
