Transylvania County Arts Council in Brevard, NC, Features Works by Carol Weeks

The Transylvania County Arts Council in Brevard, NC, will feature two photography exhibitions entitled, In Focus, on view from July 18 through Aug. 5, 2003. Photographs by professional photographer Carol Weeks of Transylvania County will be featured in the Council's small gallery while the Council's large gallery will show work by regional photographers in the Council's annual photography competition and exhibition, featuring works in seven categories including: abstract and special effects, animals, architecture, landscapes, people, plants, and, for the first time, professional.

Carol Weeks began photographing in 1982. Nature provides much of her subject matter, although she believes inherent beauty can be found anywhere. Her husband, Dave Goldman, individually hand-prints each image using traditional darkroom procedures.

"I shoot whatever catches my eye," Weeks says. "Traditional, unaltered photography satisfies the purist in me. All colors and lighting are natural; no computer enhancement is used. You see exactly what I saw through my lens."
