Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC, Offers Works by Margaret Hall Hoybach

Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, Mediterranean Magic, featuring works by Margaret Hall Hoybach, on view through July 31, 2006. The show includes oil paintings from her last year's sabbatical in Provence, as well as new watercolor and mixed media works.

For the past ten years, Hoybach has focused her art on the regions of Provence, France, and Tuscany, Italy. Stone arches, clinging vines, lush vineyards, quiet gardens, and village scenes have been her subjects. A show of her French works opened in Provence in July 1999. Her latest book, Colors of France: A Painting Pilgrimage, was published earlier this year.

Hoybach received her BA from the University of Maryland School of Fine Arts in 1966 and took advanced studies at the University of California at Davis. More than thirty years of painting worldwide have given her a variety of subject matter and the ability to capture the inspiration of the moment. Her close-ups of nature combine integral detail with impressionistic interpretation.

A lecturer at colleges, museums, and to professional organizations, Hoybach conducts workshops throughout the United States and in France and Germany. The Artistry of Margaret Hall Hoybach, her educational television series on painting, is produced and shown in the Washington, DC area. She has lived in the Charleston area for the past 24 years.
