The Haen Gallery in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Wendy Whitson

The Haen Gallery in Asheville, NC, is presenting the exhibition, Wendy Whitson: New Paintings, on view through July 31, 2007.

Whitson is a remarkable landscape painter. Her canvases are rich with color and mood. She takes her inspiration from our local North Carolina countryside and translates it into her own terms. Whitson captures the essence of a landscape and invites the viewer into her beautifully articulated trees, skies, and earth with very thoughtfully composed scenes. Her work is greatly influenced by the Impressionists as well as Abstract expressionism and the Tonalism movement.

Whitson is originally from Whiteville, NC, and a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Fine Art. She worked in architecture, graphic design, and photography before devoting her energies to painting. She is now a full time working artist in the River District in Asheville. Her work is in several private and corporate collections across the country as well as England, and has been shown at the Design Gallery in Burnsville, NC, the Crossnore Gallery in Linville, NC, and the Soho Myriad in Atlanta, GA. She has shown in three juried National Group Exhibitions at the Arts Alliance of Winston-Salem.

The Haen Gallery is located at 52 Biltmore Avenue between the City Bakery and ED Boudreaux's. There is a paid parking lot across from the gallery, a garage just up the hill, as well as street parking.
