July Issue 2007

Tryon Fine Arts Center in Tryon, NC, Features Works by Barbara Enders

The Tryon Painters & Sculptors are pleased to present an exhibit of oil paintings by artist Barbara Enders. The show will be on view from July 13 through Aug. 5, 2007, at the Tryon Fine Arts Center in Tryon, NC.

Enders received her BS degree from Miami University, Oxford, OH. Her graduate study was at Oswego State Teachers College in New York and Trenton State in New Jersey. In 1970, Syracuse University sent Enders to Florence, Italy and to London, England where she studied the restoration of oil paintings, specializing in "Italian Renaissance" and American Art from 1800 to 1860.

Enders taught art in the public schools in Ohio and NY. Her work can be seen locally in Hendersonville, NC, in the Murals at the Double Olive on Main Street. Enders has artwork in numerous private collections and was owner/operator of Enders Art Studio, in Baldwin, NY from 1958 through 1979.

After moving to Hendersonville, Enders returned to painting, taking workshops for refreshers. Enders techniques continually change with the times. Her philosophy is that "mistakes are learning lessons which are necessary for growth." Enders' work represents the joy of bright colors with themes from nature and an imagination with a soul.
