The Art League of Highlands in Highlands, NC, Offers Summer Show

The Art League of Highlands will present its Summer Colors, a fine art show on July 19 & 20, 2008, from 10am to 5pm at the Highlands Recreation Center in Highlands, NC.

This is a much-anticipated event of the summer season in the mountains. Over 50 local and regional artists from throughout the southeast will display and offer works for sale in a wide variety of media, including oils, watercolors, mixed media, photography, pottery and custom handcrafted jewelry.

One important mission of the Highlands Art League is to play a vital role in addressing the creative potential of young people. Through its programs and partnership with The Bascom, A Center for the Visual Arts, the League continues to introduce and develop an appreciation and excitement of the visual arts aimed at the youth of the area.

The Children's Art Room, which is a special feature of the show, is one way to highlight the efforts of members of the League who are committed to not only being motivators, but mentors, for young people. The room is open each day during the show and each year it receives rave reviews from young participants and their parents.

The Art League of Highlands is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to the support and promotion of the visual arts throughout western North Carolina.
