July Issue 2009

Aabstract's Gallery in Fountain Inn, SC, Features Works by Randi Johns

Aabstract's Gallery in Fountain Inn, SC, will present an exhibit of works by Randi Johns, on view from July 1 - 31, 2009.

Johns' artistic expression is characterized by colors and boldness. On her large canvasses she creates visual playgrounds, sometimes celebrating life and spontaneity, sometimes deliberate contemplation. Frequently she is inspired by architecture, which she practiced in the US as well as Denmark.

About her work Johns says, "I like to work in several abstract genres requiring different processes ranging from conceptual realism, where the concept is found in reality but expressed through context, symbolism, colors and composition. I equally enjoy a totally different process, much closer to abstract expressionism, where you celebrate spontaneity by facing a canvas, without any preconceived notions, and feel like jumping off the top of the mountain and become exhilarated by the joy of free flight. When you land, you still have to negotiate a composition with the canvas, which requires a greater challenge as compared to other premeditated approaches to abstract art."

Johns is a member of the Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville in downtown Greenville, SC.

The merging of contemporary art with the Old World ambience of the Aabstract's Gallery in Fountain Inn provides the perfect setting for a remarkable experience for the entire family.
