Brookgreen Gardens' Animal Sculpture Featured in National Art Magazine

The animal sculpture at Brookgreen Gardens, in Pawley's Island, SC, was featured in the July-August issue of Wildlife Art Magazine, a prestigious national publication that focuses on the artistic appreciation and beauty of animals in the wild.

In a four page, color photo essay, Wildlife Art showcases the beautiful animal sculpture, including some of the 38 pieces in A Magnificent Menagerie: Animals in Sculpture that runs through Aug, 19 in the Jennewein Gallery, as well as other pieces located throughout the gardens.

Many of the important animal sculptors of the past and present are represented in the exhibit, which features 25 pieces from the Brookgreen collection and 13 on loan from renowned American sculptors.

Brookgreen Gardens, located on U.S. 17 between Myrtle Beach and Charleston, SC, is the country's first sculpture garden where more than 500 works of American sculpture are displayed throughout one of the greatest public gardens in the Southeast.

In addition, the property contains wildlife and historical exhibits that reveal the distinctive life and land of Lowcountry Carolina.

Brookgreen Gardens is one of only 12 institutions in the country accredited by both the American Association of Museums and the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. Brookgreen Gardens has recently been named one of five top gardens in the Southeast.

Admission to the gardens is $8.50 for adults for a seven-day admission pass; children ages 6-12 are $4; under 6 are free. Call 843/235-6000 for more information or visit their web site at (http://www.brookgreen.org).
