Brookgreen Gardens in Pawleys Island, SC, Embraces Burroughs & Chapin Art Museum Members

The leadership at Brookgreen Gardens in Pawleys Island, SC, is extending temporary visitation rights to the members of the Burroughs & Chapin Art Museum that was forced to close due to tornado-related damage.

The 300 members of The Franklin G. Burroughs & Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum are being welcomed at Brookgreen without gate charge until the art museum on the south end of Myrtle Beach, SC, is open for business. Art museum members will receive details in the mail.

"The invitation is being extended to the art museum for its members as a gesture of support to the area museum during its repair period," said Anne Mullen, Brookgreen's vice president for external affairs. "Membership programs are the lifeblood of museums and other philanthropic institutions, and membership value is key to retention".

"Brookgreen has much to share with art enthusiasts, and we hope the opportunity to stay connected with art with ensure membership retention."

Lineta Pritchard, museum board chairman, said it is hoped the museum will reopen in early October.

"The Board is thrilled to have an arts ally like Brookgreen Gardens offer such a thoughtful gesture to our members while we are putting our building back together," said Pritchard. "We will encourage our members to enjoy all that Brookgreen has to offer and hope that Brookgreen members will celebrate our re-opening with us when all our repairs are complete."
