Arts Center of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, Hosts Exhibition on Human Figure

The Arts Center of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, proudly announces its 2nd Annual Juried Art Competition and Exhibition The Human Figure featuring an educational mini-exhibit The Human Form: Past & Present. The exhibit will be on view from Aug. 4 through Sept. 29, 2001.

The opening reception on Aug. 3 will feature an awards ceremony where a total of $1000 will be awarded in cash prizes. Works will be judged by Monica Teal. Teal studied art at Western Carolina University, where she earned her Masters degree in Painting. She maintained a studio in Solothurn, Switzerland for over 6 years and spent much of that time teaching art and painting. Teal is known for figurative narratives in her paintings.

Artists from Western North Carolina and surrounding states have submitted over 100 pieces of artwork concerning the theme of the human figure, the most universally shared subject for depiction in the history of art.

A color slide lecture entitled, Heavenly Forms, Earthy Abundance: Variations on the Goddess Theme, will be presented by Dr. Ben Pfingstag on Thurs., Aug. 9 from 7-8pm.
