Museum Announces Partnership With Museumshop.Com
Museum Store Books, Posters and Jewelry Now Available through One-Stop Shopping On-Line

The North Carolina Museum of Art's books, posters, jewelry and other products are now no further than a mouse-click away. Through a new partnership with MuseumShop.com, which boasts the Internet's largest selection of gifts from museums around the world, the Museum has broadened the availability of its unique products and increased the ease with which Web users worldwide can purchase an array of Museum merchandise.

"This partnership opens up a new era for the Museum Store by bringing us firmly into the digital age," said Emily S. Rosen, the Museum's assistant director for marketing. "Not only can we reach a larger audience for the Museum Store through MuseumShop.com, but we will also greatly increase general awareness about all of the Museum's programs and exhibitions, many of which are represented by our merchandise."

Products currently available at (www.museumshop.com) include t-shirts and catalogues from the Museum's recent exhibition Color, Myth and Music: Stanton MacDonald-Wright and Synchromism, posters and prints from In Praise of Nature: Ansel Adams and Photographers of the American West, and items from 2000's landmark Rodin exhibition, such as The Thinker tote bags, aprons and golf balls. Catalogues from other exhibitions organized by the Museum are also for sale, and the Museum's impressive permanent collection is represented in books, posters, jewelry and decorative items.

"One of our popular jewelry items, the Blue Dancer pin is based on Alexander Archipenko's beautiful sculpture, on view in the Museum's Modern and Contemporary Galleries," said Rosen. "And items such as the Dutch still-life coasters or the Boy with a Wineglass night light provide whimsical reminders of the Museum's exemplary European art collection. While somewhat light-hearted, these products also serve a serious purpose: underscoring the Museum's mission to encourage appreciation and awareness of great art."

Founded in 1997, MuseumShop.com offers shoppers the largest on-line selection of gifts from the finest museums worldwide while promoting the exhibits and programs of participating museums. MuseumShop.com has established partnerships and affiliations with museums across the U.S., in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and institutions worldwide from the Louvre to the Prado to showcase a variety of products ranging from home décor to fine prints for easy, one-stop shopping on-line. MuseumShop.com has also pioneered the development of Exhibition Spotlights in conjunction with its partner, Antenna Audio Inc., that enable visitors to experience the sights and sounds of exhibitions directly from their desktops and laptops.
