Sumter Gallery of Art in Sumter, SC, Features Fiber Art by Beth Stewart-Ozark

Sumter Gallery of Art in Sumter, SC, will host an exhibit entitled Tactile Textile Conceptions by fiber artist Beth Stewart-Ozark The exhibit of 21 works will run from Aug. 9 through Sept. 16, 2001.

Two examples of Stewart-Ozark's repliscape technique will be displayed, including Poinsett - Lakeside, which is graciously loaned by Poinsett State Park. Her work is noted for its color richness and imaginative exploration of personal textile design.

Stewart-Ozark lives in Lexington, SC, where she has her studio. Some of her work was recently exhibited in the First Union Gallery at Spirit Square and in the Watkins Gallery of Queens College, both in Charlotte, NC. She will be teaching at the Crafty Needle Shop in Sumter following the exhibit's opening. Her work has been juried into and won awards in numerous local, regional and national exhibitions, and can be found in public and private collections in the USA, Italy and Germany.

A concurrent exhibit by Sumter County Art Teachers will also be on view. Gamecock City Printing and Wachovia Bank sponsor both exhibits.
