The Caldwell Arts Council and Tri-State Sculptors Present 18th Annual Sculpture Celebration in Lenoir, NC

Sculptors are busily creating their best work for you to see at the 18th Annual Sculpture Celebration in Lenoir NC. The Celebration will be held on Sept. 6, 2003, from 9am to 4:30pm at JE Broyhill Park on Ridge Street in downtown Lenoir, NC. The participating artists from over 15 states will be competing for prizes and purchase awards.

The Caldwell Arts Council and Tri-State Sculptors are the co-sponsors of this event. The unique aspect of the Celebration is the artists have the opportunity to promote their work, share ideas with other artists and discuss with patrons the art of sculpture.

This is a family friendly event with activities for all ages. Caldwell County's favorite jazz group Lenoir Sax will jam from 10am till 1pm, then high-spirited group, Carolina Gator Gumbo will provide entertainment from 1-3pm, with a friendly mix of traditional Cajun and Creole arrangement, Hank Williams tunes, and a touch of blues to season the mix. There will be a variety of food vendors where you will be able to purchase lunch. You can also display your artistic talent by participating in a hands-on art project throughout the event. The event is free to the public.

The Sculpture Celebration was started in 1985. Through corporate and individual donations the Arts Council has purchased sculpture for Caldwell County. Currently, the collection of 65 sculptures is displayed throughout the county. Sculptures are located on street corners, parks, public offices, schools, libraries and other public properties. The newest commission will be placed in late Aug., south of Lenoir on Highway 321 at the intersection with the Southwest loop.
