Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Alice Ballard Munn and Wolf Kahn

Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is presenting two solo exhibitions including: New Works by Alice Ballard Munn and Summertime Pastels by Wolf Kahn. Both exhibits will be on view through Sept. 30, 2005.

Alice Ballard Munn

Munn's beautiful works in clay demonstrate a long-time relationship with, and mastery of, the medium. She expertly models white earthenware into elegant and sensuous natural forms, such as buds, bulbs and pods. Munn says, "I enjoy the soft quiet energy that happens as a bud unfolds, or as the greenery of a tulip emerges."

A native of Florence, SC, Munn has worked as an artist and teacher for over thirty years. She has been honored with numerous gallery and museum exhibitions, and her work can be found in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Mint Museum of Craft + Design, among others.

Wolf Kahn

For more than 25 years, Wolf Kahn has left his home and studio in New York City to spend the summer in Vermont. When he returns, it is typically with a bounty of new work in tow. With great excitement, each year we look forward to seeing the "summertime" pastels. Jerald Melberg recently visited Kahn's studio and personally selected a wonderful group of pastels from last summer's efforts for this exhibition.

Kahn is widely considered the premier landscape painter in America. His chromatic renderings of barns, fields and trees are unmistakable. Through his use of color, Kahn achieves an intricate, insightful balance that ultimately delivers to the viewer intriguing contrasts with a sense of drama.
