Gallery at Gettys in Rock Hill, SC, Features Works by Deborah Winegar

Gallery at Gettys in Rock Hill, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Freeing Humble Materials, featuring monotype prints by artist Deborah Winegar, on view through Aug. 17, 2007.

Monotype is a unique process using a combination of painting and printmaking techniques resulting in one of a kind images. Winegar's monoprints are created with collage elements, such as cutouts of figures, animals, and the artist's hand, and found elements such as plants, lace and rope.

"This body of work - collage and monoprints - begin with 'humble materials.' They are found objects, discards, junk and garbage that I collect and make collages out of. The monoprints are dreamlike in content, use of vivid color and spatial relationships. They read on several levels - literal, abstraction and metaphor," comments Winegar.

Winegar graduated from the Arts Students League in New York City and has shown in several group and solo exhibitions.
