Sumter County Gallery of Art in Sumter, SC, Features Guild Show
The Sumter County Gallery of Art in Sumter, SC, is presenting the 2008 Sumter Artists' Guild Show, on view through Aug. 31, 2008.
Sumter is blessed with many talented artists, and a large (over 100 members), active artists' guild. The annual Sumter Artists' Guild Show, now approaching its 50th year, provides an opportunity for these artists to "strut their stuff". Guild members work in a variety of media: oils, watermedia, sculpture, mixed media, fiber and ceramics.
Karen Watson, Director of the Sumter County Gallery of Art says that the 2008 Sumter Artists Guild Show, like last year's, is exciting because many "new" artists are joining the guild. This influx of new artists, coupled with the strong tradition of long time guild artists results in a fresh and diverse exhibition - a treat for art lovers in Sumter and surrounding areas.
Sumter County Gallery of Art is honored to have Philip Mullen (fresh from his successful solo exhibition at the gallery in April) as the judge for the 2008 Sumter Artists' Guild Show. This exhibit also offers a great opportunity to purchase high-quality art at reasonable prices.
