Woolworth Walk in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Ann Vasilik

Woolworth Walk in Asheville, NC, will present Ann Vasilik: Paintings, on view in the FW Gallery, from Aug. 1 - 30, 2013. A reception will be held on Aug. 2, from 5-7pm.

Ann Vasilik feels that control of spontaneity is one of the contradictions of watercolor for her. The transparency of the washes bringing solid objects to life is the other. She loves looking at the world around her and capturing the quality of light and dark. To “see” with excitement and passion, she strives to have something distinctive to say about her personal vision. Ann enjoys the bold use of color and brush work to achieve an enhanced space and light creating a heightened realism. She reaches outward for her work rather than inward, but has a profound inward joy of seeing and painting as expressed in the style and spirit of her work.

Vasilik, a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania has lived in Asheville since 1988. She received a bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Philadelphia College of Art. She has worked as a painter and teacher in Virginia, California, Hawaii, North Carolina and the Republic of the Philippines. Vasilik has had numerous one-woman shows and has received many awards and commissions. Her work is contained in private and corporate collections.
