Showing at Asheville Gallery of Art in Downtown Asheville, NC

Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, will have Asheville watercolor painter Sandra Brugh Moore as its Artist-of-the-Month throughout the month of Sept.

Moore's exhibit, The Moon and The Mountains, reflects rare moments in time where the artist gets just a glimpse of her subject. She develops small value sketches to reconstruct the memory on paper. Then to achieve the depth of color for the "moon" paintings she uses the glazing technique. The artist starts each painting with a glaze of pure red, then green. The blues are added to develop the shapes and forms within the landscape. Creating these "memory" landscapes trains the eye and the memory of the artist to grasp just the essential elements leaving out unnecessary details. This also lets each painting evolve on its own.
