Tryon Painters and Sculptors in Tryon NC Presents Two-Person Exhibit

Tryon Painters and Sculptors in Tryon, NC, will present and exhibit of two regional artists, Janet Green Jacobson of Hendersonville, NC, and Joan Elford Stone of Tryon, NC. The exhibit will be on view Sept. 15 - Oct. 8.

Janet Green Jacobson's landscapes convey a love of the land that comes from having lived in the mountains of NC all of her life. Her more recent works incorporate watercolor, acrylic and soluble oils, all rendered on paper. Her style has gradually shifted from detailed realism to a more contemporary art form. By minimizing the use of detail Jacobson reduces the content of her paintings to the effects of light and shadow on shapes, finding the abstract patterns created by this play of light.

Joan Elford Stone is British born and received her art training at Central School of Arts and Chelsea School of Art. She works mostly in oils and watercolors. Stone has exhibited in both regional and national shows, winning numerous awards. Her paintings have been purchased for inclusion in a number of corporate and private collections.
