September Issue 2003

Art Central Gallery in Summerville, SC, Features Works by Sarah Allums Kuhnell

Art Central Ltd. Gallery in Summerville, SC, will host the exhibition Transitions by Sarah Allums Kuhnell during the month of Sept., 2003.

"Transitions"... cooler days... looking back at summer days and forward to brisker fall days. September moves us on but we can't quite let go of summer. In the current show of Sarah Allums Kuhnell at Art Central Ltd. Gallery, the seasons and subjects and media mix together, are sometimes lingering, at other times reaching ahead.

"The shifts of light and the bounce of colors in a subject keep me excited about painting. I want to catch the energy of the subject, to portray the liveliness. When the color harmonies and rhythms reveal mood or drama, the painting feels a success," says Kuhnell. "Beauty abounds in the Lowcountry! There is so much to see and share. Painting is my response to this beauty and a pleasure when others respond to my painting. Expression with color and pattern to me can be realistic or abstract. Most of my exhibited work has been representational so some pieces are a transition for me."

The proposed renovations on Short Central Avenue will change the flow of traffic to the west rather than the east. Change is in the air. It's that time of year. We welcome your visits now and in the future to experience Transitions at Art Central Gallery.
