The Light Factory in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Women Photojournalist

The Light Factory in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibition, Annual Women in Photojournalism Competition & Exhibition, featuring works by the 74 top entries. The competition is in conjunction with the 14th National Women in Photojournalism conference that will be held in Charlotte Sept. 5-7, 2003. The exhibition will be on view through Oct. 11, 2003.

A celebration of female photographic vision in this new and constantly evolving world, the theme of this year's contest is "Visionaries". Interpretations of this theme were left to the individual photographer, and photographs include moments that define us as a society, a culture, a nation, a community. Some are quiet, personal moments for an individual. This is an exhibit of work by women photographers.

Three Best in Shows were chosen from over 600 entries. These winners were: Elizabeth Flores of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal, with the image entitled, The Wedding Guests; Cheryl Diaz Meyer of the Dallas Morning News, with the image entitled, A Wife's Scent; and Nan Melville a freelance photographer from New York City for the image entitled, Blue Lagoon in Iceland.
