In Asheboro, NC, the September Show at Moring Arts Center is Sisters

Real life sisters Lee Henderson Lewis and Meredith Henderson Heywood combine the sister arts of painting and ceramics to form an exhibition called Canvas and Clay: Sisters at the Moring Arts Center in Asheboro, NC. The exhibit will be open to the public at no charge from September 1-30.

Lee Henderson Lewis is co-owner of Colorations Decorative Painting, a faux finishing mural business in Raleigh, NC. Meredith Henderson Heywood operates Whynot Pottery in metropolitan Whynot, a suburb of Seagrove, NC. The sisters have family ties to the Seagrove area through their grandparents, J.B. and Lib Slack.

Lewis has expertise not only in faux finishing but also in gilding and trompe l'oeil painting. She will be showing paintings and floor cloths suitable for hanging at the Moring Arts Center. Her work is in numerous private and public collections, including Duke University and the City of Raleigh.

Heywood, with her husband Mark, has operated Whynot Pottery since 1982. She has appeared in many joint shows with Mark. Her work is in collections internationally. Heywood serves on the board of the North Carolina Pottery Center and as an advisor to the Seagrove Area Potters Association.
