Spencer Art Galleries in Charleston, SC, Offers Several New Exhibitions

Spencer Art Gallery I & II in Charleston, SC, is offering several exhibitions this month, including: The Forth Annual Artist's Journeys, featuring new works by all gallery artists, at both galleries, from Sept. 3 through Oct. 31, 2004; Sundances II featuring new works by Laurie Meyer on view at Gallery I, from Sept. 17 through Oct. 8, 2004; and Ships Ahoy featuring new works by Kaytee Esser, at Gallery II, on view from Sept. 17 through Oct. 8, 2004.

"Almost all of the gallery artists travel during the Summer and do works that are influenced by the places they travel to and the people they meet," says Jerry Spencer, an owner of the Spencer Art Galleries. "The viewing public will see a lot of new works in this first exhibit of the Fall season".

"Laurie Meyer is a well respected local artist," says Catherine BrandtSpencer, an owner of the Spencer Art Gallery. "She is totally involved with light in her art as shown by the exhibit title Sundances II. Laurie's paintings bring to life local scenes and people is the special light of the Lowcountry. Though often engaged in commissioned work, Laurie still finds time to paint en plein aire to capture the uniqueness of her native environment."

Meyer's exhibit often includes paintings of streets and street scenes many Charlestonians and visitors to Charleston will easily recognize.

Of Kaytee Esser's work Catherine Brandt-Spencer says, "We are really excited to begin exhibiting these beautiful paintings. "Kaytee is a colorist who paints mostly en plein aire. Living on a boat allows her to capture on canvas her unique surroundings. She is a seasoned professional whose talent is evident in her color use, her brushwork, and her design of her paintings."

Esser's exhibit includes paintings of boat life, boats, and harbors.

The Spencer Art Galleries with two locations currently present over 35 artists with a broad range of subject matters, media, and artistic styles. The gallery and examples of the artwork in each of these exhibits can be previewed on-line at (www.spencerartgallery.com) soon after they open.
