Tryon Fine Arts Center in Tryon, NC, Features Biennial Juried Exhibition

The 10th Biennial Western North Carolina Juried Art Exhibit, sponsored by Tryon Painters & Sculptors will open on Sept. 10, in Gallery I, at the Tryon Fine Arts Center in Tryon, NC. The exhibition, juried by Drew Deane will remain on view through Oct. 2, 2006. Deane is a working artist, active juror and owner of the Drew Deane Gallery in Brevard, NC.

The exhibition attracts work from talented painters and sculptors from throughout the region. The previous show won by popular former Tryon resident Pat Cole-Ferullo featured work by 71 of the 95 artists who submitted work. The first place award this year has been increased to $500. The event promises a chance to view excellent local and regional art.

Tryon Painters & Sculptors (TPS) was organized in 1968. It is an affiliate of the Tryon Fine Arts Center along with other art-related organizations. TPS holds monthly exhibits in Gallery I of the Arts Center, by artists whose work shows creativity and skill and from whom all can benefit. During the year, TPS presents two exhibits for members where anyone in the membership can exhibit his/her best work. TPS also maintains the ground floor of The Arts Palette, in the building next door to the Art Center, where all of the members are eligible to display their work. It is the retail outlet for TPS work and is open 3 days a week.
