Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville in Greenville, SC, Features Works by Garry Turpin

The Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville in Greenville, SC, will present an exhibit of works by Garry Turpin, on view from Sept. 1 - 30, 2009.

Turpin has always been drawn to art. Every opportunity as it related to art got his full attention. He graduated from Mars Hill College with a Bachelors Degree In Fine Arts.

In 2000, after 25 years of working in graphic arts Turpin began a new direction becoming a full time fine artist concentrating on representative oil painting. For five years he worked on style and technique and drew from similar challenges that had been presented in the graphic arts arena.

In 2005, Turpin was selected to participate in the Artisphere International Fine Arts Festival. From that point he joined several progressive art organizations such as M.A.C. and UVA. He is presently the vice president of the Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville. His work is represented by Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville and Aabstracts Gallery in Fountain Inn, SC.

Turpin invites the viewer to join him in his interpretation of our world. He likes to use the rich variable colors of oil on canvas to capture his feelings and the presence of his subjects. When the wonders of life and its amazing variety synchronize to provide a lasting memory he simply tries to express his interpretation and pass it forward.

Water has always been a favorite subject for Turpin. He says that, "water's transparent and reflective natures always provide a challenge when painting. Crashing waves with sunburned beachcombers and the cool waters of mountain streams call me to represent them in a 2-dimensional manner that others will enjoy and remember."

For the past five years the majority of Turpin's work has been Southern Americana with more focus on the people of our beautiful country.
