Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island, SC, Offers Works by Art Beyond Tradition

The Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island, SC, is presenting Imagination, featuring works by members of the Art Beyond Tradition group, on view in the Hilton Head Regional Temporary Exhibit Gallery, through Nov. 4, 2013. Receptions will be held on Sept. 11, from 5-7pm and on Nov. 4, from 5-6pm.

This exceptional collection of abstract artwork is presented by the artists of Art Beyond Tradition. This exhibition of imaginative artwork in a variety of media….paintings, collages, assemblages and sculptures in stone and metal is the artists thinking outside the box with each piece being unique. The exhibit is rich in color and design.

This is the second exhibition at the Coastal Discovery Museum and the fifth for the group. The artists include: Cindy Chiappetta, Jo Dye, Vicki Jourdan, Sharon Collings Licata, Mark Larkin, Mary Jane Martin, Mary Sullivan, Lane Palmisano, Joan Templer, Arla Crumlick Wible, Caroll Williams and Irene K. Williamson.

Wible refers to her work as “Child’s Play.” She says, “Many look at abstract art and say it looks like a 6 year old did it. In truth, the compositions, play of colors, use of line, understanding of form and openness to the unexpected do require the spirit of a child but an adult’s experience.”

A coffee, walk and talk will be held on Oct. 16, at 10:30am. The artists will be present to discuss their work while you enjoy some coffee and something to nibble on.
